About Iain Foster Acupuncture and Nutrition

Following an unexpected diagnosis of late-onset Type 1 Diabetes & Depression, Iain began a detailed investigation and a period of self-education into all aspects of health, illness, and medicine. Overwork, poor diet, and a negative lifestyle were a toxic mix and led to burnout & illness. So he started a journey back to optimal health, vitality, and a positive joyful life.

Iain Foster trained in Belfast and Dublin with the College of Naturopathic Medicine (CNM), Europe’s oldest and largest Acupuncture & Naturopathic College. The CNM five-year diploma course represents the highest standard of Acupuncture, Biomedicine & Naturopathic training available in the UK and Ireland.

In addition to his CNM training in Traditional Chinese Medicine, Iain has undergone postgraduate training in a range of conditions and acupuncture techniques such as acupuncture for Emotional & Mental Health and Cosmetic Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture.

Before deciding to retrain in Acupuncture & Natural Health, Iain had a successful 20-year career in the charity sector. Over this time he held a range of senior posts, including the Northern Ireland Chief Executive of several UK health charities.

Iain began his working life as an apprentice electrician in Liverpool, before studying History at university in Belfast. Following this, he started his professional career as a teacher in Belfast before joining an education charity.

In addition to his clinical work in Acupuncture & Nutrition Iain has a strong interest in meditation and is a senior teacher with over 20 years experience. His other interests and skills include Tai Chi, Qi Gong and functional exercise.

Iain is the chairperson of a Belfast Community based Counselling charity and is a Trustee of the Samatha Meditation Trust. He has two grown-up children, two border collies and a love-hate relationship with Liverpool Football Club!
